On The River
The main play combines fair-price edge, suitability for conditions, and enough confidence to justify involvement.
- Recent form profile is a major positive
- 14-day trainer form is strong
- Recent run was better than the finishing position
- Current price still underrates the chance
Why The Favourite Can Be Opposed
Price is shorter than the model makes it.
- Market efficiency is running at 0%, so edge is still available if the reasoning is specific enough.

Added another two 1m wins to his CV in 2025, including on AW when last seen in November; this 2lb higher mark shouldn't prove beyond him but his record fresh, allied to the absence of cheekpieces (worn on last seven starts), suggest this may not be his day.
Won novice races at Nottingham (8.3f, good to soft) and Southwell (1m, AW) on his first two starts; flopped on handicap debut last September (1m2f, good to soft) and he was out the back in the Spring Mile on his reappearance 32 days ago; down in class but he needs the cheekpieces/faster ground to turn things around.
Completed a hat-trick last summer with the first two legs coming over C&D (good ground); promising third at Ripon on his seasonal return two weeks ago, keeping on well from 2f out having earlier clipped a rival's heels as the race was hotting up; still has more to offer and the drying ground is the only imponderable (unraced on faster than good).
Two turf wins at around 1m on good ground last summer, the second of them coming off a 1lb higher mark; not far off his best form when fourth at Lingfield early this month but he has since finished a remote 11th at Musselburgh; not a solid option.
Won last summer's Carlisle Bell off this mark (1m, soft); ran well when fifth in the Spring Mile at Doncaster on his return before finding only his stablemate Milteye too strong at Ripon 13 days ago (1m, good to soft; Walsingham back in third); fully effective over C&D but he appears to have a preference for slower than good now and drying conditions aren't sure to suit.
Soft-ground win for Richard Fahey last November (1m); tongue tied for the first time when making a winning stable debut over C&D three weeks ago (good to soft); 3lb higher in a better race and going without cheekpieces today; handles good ground but perhaps wouldn't want it any faster.
Three wins last May/July at about 1m on various ground and he's back down to his last winning mark; ended 2025 quietly and there's a suspicion he'll improve for this comeback run; withdrawn after getting upset in the stalls at Ripon two weeks ago (25-1 at the time).
Ran out the easy winner of the corresponding event (good ground) on his reappearance last April; also successful at Haydock in August and that win came off a 2lb higher mark; interesting on return from a six-month break.
Veteran with 14 wins to his name, two of them coming over C&D; ended 2025 quietly and he finished behind a couple of today's rivals at Ripon on his reappearance 13 days ago; on a dangerous mark but he may need another run before he is of major interest.
