Divot
The main play combines fair-price edge, suitability for conditions, and enough confidence to justify involvement.
- Recent form profile is a major positive
- Current price still underrates the chance
- Recent run was better than the finishing position
- Ratings stack up strongly against this field
Why The Favourite Can Be Opposed

Comfortable success at Kempton on his stable debut in January (1m3f); solid efforts in defeat since and this is a good deal weaker than the C&D handicap in which he finished sixth (of 15) on Good Friday; contender.
Losing run stretches back to May 2023 (hurdles); ended 2025 with some modest efforts for James Owen and fared little better when fifth of seven on his stable debut 11 weeks ago (2m, Polytrack); enough to prove.
Well backed when winning over C&D in December off a 2lb lower mark (ridden by Myla Coppins); the odd solid effort since and he can't be ruled out.
Improved for a step up in trip/switch to handicaps last summer, winning twice on turf at around this trip (good to firm and heavy) before ending 2025 with a close second at Chelmsford (1m6f); still has potential after just nine starts and he's an interesting contender.
Won three times in the summer of 2024, including twice over C&D; several good runs in defeat last year and he starts out for George Baker (same owner) off a competitive mark; one to consider.
C&D winner in September 2024; the odd good run in early 2025 but this habitual slow-starter always comes with risks attached.
Still seeking his first win after 13 attempts but he has finished second on three occasions, including at Wolverhampton on his seasonal return three weeks ago (1m4f; hooded first time); that was a costly reverse for those that backed him into 11-10f but he didn't do a great deal wrong and the subsequent wins of the first and third give the form some ballast; major player with the hood now discarded.
Just low-level hurdle form on his last two starts; last year's Flat best, which came over C&D, would give him a squeak but others look stronger for win purposes.
Still seeking his first win but he was placed twice in Kempton handicaps last October (1m/1m4f) after a lengthy layoff; 148-day absence small fry in comparison and he could still have a bigger effort in him.
